WOMEN’S HEALTH SERVICES OFFERED BY COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS

Community health centers focus on offering affordable sexual and reproductive health service to women, children, and men. The health services include annual exams, sexual health and family planning counseling, birth control, as well as STI/STD testing and treatment. These centers make sure that all the services are confidential.

BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER SCREENINGS

The Susan G. Komen program seeks to make sure that all people, irrespective of income, race, sexual orientation, geographical location, or insurance status, have access to services like breast health screening. If the person is diagnosed with cancer, the program ensures that the person has access to quality treatment and support services.

The Komen program is for the underinsured or uninsured residents and the eligibility is regardless of the immigration status of the person. The income of the person should be less than 300% of the Federal poverty level.

WOMEN’S WELLNESS CONNECTION

The program is aimed at offering free breast and cervical cancer screenings for women between the ages 40 and sixty-four. The program includes breast exams, pelvic exams, and Pap tests. Besides that, the program also offers mammogram to any women who has abnormal screening results or who is above the age of fifty.

The Women’s Wellness Connection program is for the under-insured and un-insured residents, who are permanent residents or legal citizens of the US. The person should meet the income guidelines to benefit from the program.

BIRTH CONTROL

People can contact community health centers to know more on birth control options, or if they want to start using some birth control method, that needs a prescription or if there are any devices that need to be inserted by a healthcare provider. You may also contact community health centers if you had unprotected intercourse or experienced a method failure and do not wish to get pregnant.
