WOMENS DISEASES THAT MEN SHOULD WATCH OUT FOR Jul,27,2020

It is more likely for women to get affected by many diseases because of their anatomy, genes, and hormone levels. Some of these women’s diseases can affect men too. So, if men experience any symptoms related to women’s diseases, do not ignore them because of your gender. Below are some women’s diseases that every man must watch out for.

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a disease that increases the spaces between the bones and results in losing their density and strength, making them vulnerable to bone fractures. Additionally, osteoporosis will also cause the outside of bones to grow thinner and weaker. The chances of osteoporosis in women are one out of three, whereas in men, it is one out of five.

Risk Factors

  • Kidney problems
  • Thyroid
  • Cancer therapies
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Anticonvulsants

Thyroid Problems

The thyroid is a small gland that produces hormones in order to control your metabolism. If this gland produces an excess amount of hormones, it will result in hyperthyroidism.

Symptoms

  • Weight loss
  • Dry skin
  • Forgetfulness
  • Fatigue

Similarly, if the thyroid gland fails to produce sufficient amount of hormone, it will result in hypothyroidism.

Symptoms

  • Muscle weakness
  • Irritability
  • Weight gain
  • Sleep disorders

Chances of thyroid problems in men are five to eight times less than that in women.

Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is common in women in comparison to men, as women have more breast tissues than men do. Even though only 1% of total breast cancer cases affect men, this rate is increasing with every passing day.

Men usually ignore breast cancer symptoms, and cancer can develop without being noticed. In most cases, they diagnose breast cancer at the final stage, and hence their chance of survival is comparatively less than women.

So, men must always watch for any skin abnormalities or unusual lumps in the chest area. Furthermore, obese people are more likely to be affected by breast cancer.

Bladder Infections

One of the most common diseases in women is bladder infections, which is caused mainly because of bacterial infections within the bladder. However, this can affect men too, especially if they have kidney stones, enlarged prostate, an abnormal narrowing of the urethra, etc.

Symptoms

  • Strong urge to urinate
  • Cloudy or bloody urine
  • Low-grade fever
  • Frequent urination
  • Burning sensation while urinating
  • Lupus

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that occurs when your immune system starts attacking healthy cells in your body, by mistake. Around 90% of patients who have lupus are women. However, this autoimmune disorder can affect men too in rare cases.

Symptoms

  • Joint swelling and pain
  • Mouth sores
  • Muscle fatigue
  • Hair loss
  • Sudden fever
