Doctor’s Tips To Stay Healthy During Pregnancy

DOCTORS TIPS TO STAY HEALTHY DURING PREGNANCY Aug,05,2022

Are you pregnant and searching for ways to stay healthy during pregnancy? If yes, then you have reached the right place. Doctors in our free women’s health clinic share ways to help women optimize their health before, during, and after pregnancy. The tips from our doctors can help you boost your chances of having a healthy pregnancy.

Have Healthy Foods

Pregnant women need to eat healthy food items to ensure the proper growth of the baby. Eat food items that are low in saturated fats, and rich in calcium to keep your baby healthy and strong.

Stay Hydrated

Being pregnant can increase your water need. Many studies show that a pregnant woman will need more water than she did before. Obstetricians in many free women’s clinics recommend pregnant women to have eight or more cups of water per day to ensure proper water intake.

Take Prenatal Vitamin

To ensure proper levels of some important nutrients, you need to take prenatal multivitamins daily. Consult with your doctor and take a prenatal vitamin to help you and your baby get the right amount of nutrients.

Never Drink Alcohol

It is important not to drink alcohol before and after pregnancy and while breastfeeding. If you drink alcohol during your pregnancy, it can increase the chances of your baby having fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). This disorder can lead to abnormal facial features, behavioral problems, etc.

Do Not Skip Your Prenatal Care Checkups

Pregnant women need to get regular prenatal care. You can visit a free women’s health clinic in your area to get prenatal care. If you do not get regular prenatal care, it is likely for you to have a baby with low birth weight and many other issues. You can also consider group prenatal care, if available in your area.

Do Not Smoke

We all know that smoking is an unhealthy habit and if you are pregnant, you should never smoke as it can be very harmful to you and your unborn child. Smoking can shoot up the chances of sudden infant death syndrome, miscarriage, and many other problems.

Exercise Daily

Staying active and exercising daily can help ensure your health during pregnancy. However, you need to check with your doctor to know the level of physical activity that is right for you.

Get Adequate Sleep

If you are pregnant, you need to get adequate sleep. As per the experts, you need to sleep 7 to 9 hours daily if you are pregnant. Also, try to sleep on your left side as it can help improve the flow of blood in your body.
