WHY WOMEN SHOULD NEVER SKIP A GYNECOLOGICAL EXAMINATION

Jul,24,2020

Women should book an appointment with a care provider who is specialized in female reproductive health in order to conduct a thorough gynecological examination. Care providers from several low income clinics in the country advise women to undergo a physical examination at least once every year because it will help them to maintain good sexual and reproductive health.

In fact, women should be seeing a gynecologist or a care provider from the age of 21. However, women who become sexually active before the age of 21 are advised to do this at a younger age. Those who are in the age range of 21 to 29 must undergo a Pap smear test annually, whereas females above the age of 29 need to book an appointment with the care provider at least once a year to monitor their sexual and reproductive health.

Some of the other reasons why women visit a gynecologist include seeking treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), vaginal infections, and irregular periods. Sexually active females and the ones who are planning to become sexually active must visit an affordable health clinic often, as it will help them to learn a lot more about various contraceptive methods.

During each gynecological examination, the health care provider will usually ask patients about her menstrual cycle and sexual history. They will also conduct a physical examination of the genitals and breasts of the patient. These examinations will help the care provider to know whether the person is suffering from any reproductive or sexual health issues.

The anxiety and worries of the patient can be considerably reduced if she knows what to expect during the examinations. Below are a few simple tips that will help you to be prepared for a gynecological exam.

  • Try not to schedule an appointment during menstrual periods because menstrual fluid may interfere with the examination and lab tests.
  • Do not have sexual intercourse at least 24 hours before visiting an affordable health clinic for a gynecological examination.
  • You should know when your last period started and when it ended because your gynecologist will certainly ask you about your menstrual cycle.

If you have a good and proper knowledge on what actually happens during a periodic gynecological examination, then you will not experience any discomforts during your visit to the clinic. Get in touch with your nearest community health care center to learn more about periodic gynecological examinations and its importance.
