WHY WOMEN IN THEIR 30’S SHOULD CONSIDER GENETIC SCREENING TESTS

WHY WOMEN IN THEIR 30S SHOULD CONSIDER GENETIC SCREENING TESTS Jul,24,2020

If you are 35 or above, then you are probably aware that the chances or risk for pregnancy issues and complications are higher. This is why you should schedule a visit to our free women’s clinic for a few additional prenatal tests to rule out the concerns of a pregnancy complication.

There is no need to worry though, because many healthy women who were even in their late 40’s have had healthy pregnancies and babies. In fact, one out of seven babies born in the United States in 2017 belonged to women who were at or above the age of 35. However, performing a few genital tests will bring you added benefits such as:

  • You will be able to gain a peace of mind about the health of your baby
  • If a genetic problem is identified in your baby, then you can learn about it and be prepared for the special needs of your baby
  • The information gained through the genital tests will help you decide how better you can care for your pregnancy

The care providers at our free women’s clinic will initially review your medical history and evaluate your current health condition on your first visit to the clinic. Then they will give you a detailed analysis on each of these tests and point out the genital tests that you need to take if you are ready.

An overview of some of the genetic screening tests that we offer for women with a higher risk of pregnancy issues is listed below.

Ultrasound

Women of all ages usually undergo multiple ultrasounds during their pregnancy. This genetic test incorporates the use of high-frequency sound waves for producing an image of your baby. An ultrasound can be used to check whether you are carrying more than a single fetus and also examine the health of your uterus and ovaries.

First Trimester Screen

First trimester screen test is usually performed between 11 to 14 weeks after you become pregnant and it involves an ultrasound and a blood test. The blood test is done to measure the two markers in your blood whereas the ultrasound efficiently measures the thickness of the back of the neck of your baby.

Quad Marker Screen

A quad marker screen test is performed between 15 to 20 weeks of pregnancy. It is actually a blood test, which helps to measure the substances in your blood. If there are any problems with the spinal cord or the brain of the baby, then you will be able to identify it through this particular test.

Our health care providers will also help you realize the benefits, risks, and limitations of each one of these genital tests, which will in turn help you to make the right decision. Get in touch with our free women clinic today to learn more about genetic screening tests for late pregnancy.
